Behind the Finish: Inside Our Spray Department

A beautifully finished kitchen door doesn’t happen by chance. It is the result of skilled craftsmanship, attention to detail and a carefully controlled finishing process. Our spray department plays a vital role in ensuring every door leaves our workshop looking its very best.

Preparing the Perfect Surface

Before a door reaches the spray booth it undergoes a thorough sanding process to create a perfectly smooth surface. This stage is essential, as the quality of the final finish depends on the preparation that comes before it. Our team carefully checks each door to ensure it is ready for painting, providing the ideal foundation for a flawless result.

Expert Hand Spraying

Once prepared the doors move into our professional spray booth where they are hand sprayed by our experienced finishing team. Using high-quality paints and precision spray equipment, each coat is applied evenly to achieve a smooth consistent finish.

Unlike mass-produced products, our hand-finishing process allows us to maintain complete control over the quality of every door. Our spray technicians inspect their work throughout the process, ensuring excellent colour consistency, coverage and finish quality.

The Drying and Curing Process

After painting, the doors are carefully placed onto drying racks where they remain for approximately 30 minutes. This initial drying period allows the finish to settle before moving to the next stage.

The doors are then transferred to our Chubox Catalytic Infra-Red drying oven. Here they remain for 80 minutes in a controlled environment designed to cure the finish thoroughly and consistently. This process helps create a durable, hard-wearing surface that will stand up to the demands of everyday kitchen life.

Once the curing cycle is complete the doors are removed and left to cool naturally.
