In Memory of Arni Mertens (1936–2025)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Arni Mertens, who passed away peacefully on 16 October 2025 at the age of 88.
Arni founded Landau in 1976, laying the foundations for the quality, craftsmanship and integrity that continue to define our company today. His vision, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit shaped Landau into the business it has become — one built on precision, trust and enduring values.
After suffering a stroke three years ago, Arni spent his later years in care. He passed away peacefully in his sleep and joins his wife Marjorie who passed away earlier this year, in July, and his son Nigel who passed away in June 2024.
Everyone at Landau remains deeply grateful for Arni’s remarkable contribution and the legacy he leaves behind. We continue to honour his memory through our work and commitment to the principles on which he built the company nearly fifty years ago.
