A Fond Farewell to Mark Smith After 20 Years at Landau

After more than two decades with Landau, we’re saying a very fond farewell to one of our most valued team members, Mark Smith. Mark has been an integral part of the Landau journey for over 20 years. As one of our long-standing joiners, he has consistently brought exceptional skill, dedication and pride to every project he’s worked on. His craftsmanship has not only contributed to the quality of our products but has also helped define the standards we uphold as a business today.

Throughout his time with us, Mark has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues across the company. His commitment, reliability and attention to detail have left a lasting impression—not just on the work he’s produced, but on the people he’s worked alongside every day.

Reflecting on Mark’s contribution, Managing Director David Johnson said:

“Mark has been a cornerstone of Landau for over 20 years. His skill, reliability and pride in his work have set a standard that’s helped shape the business into what it is today. More than that, he’s been a valued colleague and friend to so many of us. While we’re genuinely sad to see him go, we’re incredibly grateful for everything he’s given to Landau. The only positive I can draw from Marks departure is that I can replace the Hull KR memorabilia in his work area with Hull FC!

We wish him all the very best for the future.”

Mark also shared his own reflections on his time with the company:

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working at Landau. Some days haven’t felt like work—it’s been like being with a family, which is why I’ve spent so many years here. In this line of work people move around, but I’ve never once looked for anything else. I’ll miss everything about Landau. You come to work to earn money, but working here I found another family.”

While it’s never easy to say goodbye to someone who has played such an important role in the business, we do so with immense gratitude for everything Mark has contributed over the years.
